A fairly short and mostly uninteresting meeting.
However, there was one excellent item, the analysis of the PCT’s organisation to deal with swine flu, prepared by Dr Andrew Howe, the Director of Public Health. There was a detailed analysis of what the PCT, jointly with the local authority, had done to cope with the expected outbreak. The preparations and organisation were described in detail, with a commentary on what had worked well and what had not. Luckily, in the event the epidemic was not nearly as severe as had been feared. However, this detailed analysis is a useful paper as it highlights what should be done next time there is a similar emergency. And it was all beautifully written, a real pleasure to read.
