The Future
West Herts Trust is hoping to acquire Foundation Trust status soon. Administrators are working on an outline business plan for a new hospital as part of a health campus at Watford whilst also preparing for tough economic times ahead. The campus is a partnership of 8 public and private sector stakeholders and it is planned that the new acute hospital will open in 2016. Planners are conscious of environmental issues, so there will not only be recycling, but also rainwater harvesting, a combined heat, power and cooling plant and a hospital that will be naturally ventilated with low carbon emissions.
