Chief Executive's report
A recent auction at Sotherbys raised £485,000 on nine items donated for the benefit of Royal Brompton & Harefield Charity Funds. This money will be added to the Harefield Hospital MRI Scanner Appeal, which is extremely good news for Harefield.
The Trust has invested very significant capital in two Ecmo 'machines' which are used to provide alternative lung function in patients with critically prejudiced lungs. They are used in a similar way to LVADS and kidney dialysis machines. The NHS has already started to refer patients for treatment. The Trust scored 'Excellent' for both Quality of Services and Quality of Financial Management in the 2008/2009 Health Checks by the Quality Care Commission.
